Perhap...The vicarge is huge! and truly wonderful! <br /><br />Perhaps the first family at St Alban's really did need many bedrooms, but lots of religious families were in that situation. Having a private income with which to pay staff, on the other hand, must have been rather rare. The world has changed, alas, and vicars no longer expect to be looked after by their parish.<br /><br />This topic still fascinates me, and I keep filing images of closed or privatised (English) ex-vicarages.
